MOBILE, Alabama – While aggressive crowds gathered on Government and Broad Streets, watching decorative floats, collecting colorful beads, and snatching moon pies–some of the attendees took time from their festive schedules to give back to a community school that provided the firm foundation for their success.

Members of the 1979 graduating class of Booker. T. Washington middle school met on Saturday, Feb. 6 to get acquainted and discuss the plans and directions of giving back to help the students attending the school.

“The 1979 class members have a special connection. We experienced talented and dedicated teachers who provided a path of leaning for all of us during this age of innocence that prepared us for achievement.” Monique Rogers Henley.

The class also donated $2,500 to the school. Angela Brown, Principal said “this is the exact amount that was need to purchase a much needed security system for the school”.
